Vysis LSI C-MYC 8q24.12-24.13  SpectrumGold TM
The LAVysion Multi-color Probe is designed to detect and quantify copy number of the epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) gene (7p12), the C-MYC gene (8q24), chromosome 5 (5p15.2), and chromosome 6.

The LAVysion Multi-color Probe consists of a mixture of four directly labeled DNA FISH probes. The LSI EGFR Probe is labeled in SpectrumRed and covers a 300 kb region that contains the entire EGFR gene (7p12). The approximately 750 kb SpectrumGold labeled LSI C-MYC Probe, contains the entire C-MYC gene (8q24.12-q24.13). The LAVysion Multi-color Probe also contains an approximately 450 kb SpectrumGreen labeled LSI D5S23, D5S271 (5p15.2) and a CEP 6 labeled in SpectrumAqua. The CEP 6 probe hybridizes to the alpha satellite DNA region located at the centromere of chromosome 6 (6p11.1-q11). This probe set is premixed in Hybridization Buffer.

Results of Hybridization

In a normal cell hybridized with the LAVysion Multi-color Probe, the two red, two gold, two green, and two aqua (2R2G2G2A) signal pattern is observed. In an abnormal cell, multiple or reduced copies of the probe signals may be observed.Copy numbers of more or less than two of any of the four probes indicate gene, region or chromosome gain or loss, respectively.

LAVysion Multi-color Probe hybridized to a normal cell showing two copies each of LSI EGFR (Red), LSI C-MYC (Gold), 5p15.2 (Green) and CEP 6 (Aqua).
